Everything you mentioned there are pretty basic stuff when it comes to computers so no need to go over the top on the budget.

Was it a desktop computer you wanted?

lol. He did say he was a dumb blonde.

Lol even at that, he had to type in the URL correctly to access this forum so there is no excuse for misspelling computer!

Well he could have googled it :p

Does it really matter? He signed up here to get information on PCs. Not a English lesson. Lets see if we can help him out with his problem.

If that's all your looking for a basic prebuilt system from HP, Dell, or some other company like that would be fine. I'd advise looking at Newegg or Amazon as Best Buy and similar stores normally are over priced.

You could build your own but price wise it's about the same as low as your needs are.

Welcome aboard shades and don't feel bad, everyone had to start sometime. :)

You can do a search for "For Dummies" books. They have quite a selection from "How to buy a PC" to "How to use your PC."

Do you have a friend who's into computers and also builds 'em? This would be your best bet as I can see how you keep your system for so long. Store bought PCs can be pretty good but I can't tell you how well they are built as they are after profits and cuts back on quality.

Also your needs are not so demanding that you can have a system built pretty cheap and not cheap out on quality. You really need a friend who can build you one.

Hence why I asked what the budget was, to help. I'm sorry, but computer is not a difficult word to spell when on a computer forum.
