No idea whats going on with my computer

my computer just started freaking out since yesterday. I get a msg saying Nvidia 550ti version 2 something (the current version) has encountered a issue but has recovered after it crashes whatever im playing. My screen goes black, comes back and starts tweaking and green lines starts popping up and then blue screen and graphics of the game im playing start acting weird. And it doesnt pass the Loading windows screen and the green lines starts again. I got it running on safe mode and seems to be fine. So it has to be something with the graphics card i presume?
my spec are:
Nvidia 550ti with uptodate update
amd fx-4170 black edition 4.2ghz
12gb ram corsair
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo
win7 pro
and 9 fans running

i would delete all the drivers and software for the graphics card in add/remove programs, once done that,
i would go to device manager right click your device and uninstall it and once it then picks up your new device i would download and install it again using windows rather than its own software installer

It does sound like driver issues. Also the safe mode reduces resolution so you'd want to check that your video card are capable of the resolution you're trying to use in normal mode.

I've not been too keen on these recent Corsair power supplies. I had a 650w who's fan never kicked in and it began "smelling" hot. I ended up reusing my previous Corsair PSU and it's been fine...

But to your current problem, it's almost certainly going to be the GPU. I'd go ahead and try some newer or older drivers to confirm it's no software issues. However, almost any form of artifact almost always indicates a hardware issue.

Are you overclocking? If so remove it. The 550 is not meant for gaming really, and certainly not for OC. This looks very much like overheating VRAM to me.

550 TI is a fine gaming card for the majority of users. I have a friend that plays his games just fine. Doesn't need to be bleeding edge to be considered a gaming card. Overclocking is also fine as long as the temps are in check (which they very well may not be).

Overclocking cheaper graphics cards that have inferior binned silicon is asking for trouble. The 550 isn't a gaming card. The card if overclocked can cause this issue. The 560 is considered the first true gaming gpu in from that series.

You'd probably also say that a 5770 isn't a gaming card then and I overclocked that over a 100MHz on the core clock and had zero problems for over a year.

So I tried the 320.00 beta update and didnt work and i tried a older update and still didnt work and delete the graphic drivers and it works but cant play a game without it blue screening and limited to default 1280x1024 res. kinda feeling i wasted 800 bucks for this computer to start messing up in just 2 months of use

Again, what are your temperatures?

You in all likelihood might just have a bad card.
