i5 3570 vs i5 3570K

The i5 3570K cost $20 more than the i5 3750 and I'm not going to over clock anything so does the i5 3750K have any advantages other than over clocking? If not than I should just buy the i5 3750 and save $20?

unlocked multiplier is all you get from the K, if you are not overclocking, you have nothing to gain by spending the extra money.

Though you may overclock someday, I have seen many people say they won't overclock and then they do. But yes, the only thing to gain from K CPUs are a unlocked multiplier.

Thank you but if I think I need to overclock the i5 3750 I am going to build another computer with the i7 but that has got to be over a year away. Thanks again.

The price isn't too far away from each other between 3570 and 3570K correct? Then why not just get 3570K? You could even overclock slightly with the stock cooler.

I would spend additional 20$ for i5 3750k and then i would overclock it. You can achieve around 4.5 Ghz to 4.7 Ghz with air cooler.

How many threads have you started about CPUs? Also seen your thread asking for a motherboard recommendation - are you planning on doing a build or something?

Anyway, to answer the question, I'd always take the 3570K regardless of whether you intend to overclock immediately or not. You may buy it and think you'll never overclock it, but later on you might want to try overclocking to get better performance, and if you bought a 3570 you'd be a bit stuck, but if you got a 3570K you could overclock it right away (so long as you have a good motherboard and cooler to match).

If you want virtualization support for stuff like PCI passthrough, or just want to save a couple bucks, get the non-k.
If you want to overlock, get the K version.

It's really that simple.

If your budget for the system you want is boarderline over 20 bucks, get the 3750. If not spend the extra 20 and get the K model, nener know if you might change your mind.
