I know it sounds silly, nothing to do with the HDD.But I ran asc with smart ram for a yr.Few days ago my hdd died.Pc would read the hdd 1 out of every 5 bootups.I ran hdd regenerater. It found 1,453 bad sectors & said it repaired 1,446.The hdd don't even read now,its really dead. But I thought maybe the smart ram app might have put extra stress on the hdd.It was running 7 64bit

It would be really hard to know if one specific program did any damage, I have used iobit advanced systemcare before and had no problems, I only stopped using it as it is a bit of a resource hog and wants to run constantly.

It wouldn't surprise me. Any extra read/writes can potentially shorten the life of the HDD. I'm not exactly sure how that software works, but if it's causing the swap file to be used more, it could have shortened it's lifespan.

More than anything though, if you're referring to the Hitachi drive, those tend to have a fairly short lifespan. That coupled with attempted to repair it probably pushed it over the edge.
