Hi guys,
I have a new computer that was given to me after a friend was cleaning out a house of a person who passed on.

When I turn on the computer - which looks pretty new- it is requesting I type in a password, which I do not know. Without the password it seems this very nice computer is useless and will not allow me to get online.

Guys, I am not tech savy:eek: so I am asking for help on what I need to do to be able to use this computer. I would appreciate keeping the language simple so I can understand how to fix this problem. What is a "no brainer" for some of you guys is very difficult for me.

Thank You:)

This is a PC Not a Mac
With an OS of Windows 8
This is a lap top
If I posted the question in the wrong section I am sorry.

Sorry, but bypassing passwords is not something we discuss on this forum.

However most PC's are equipped with a recovery partition that can be used to wipe the computer and reset it to how it came new.

Technically you could, say, use a USB stick with Ubuntu no problem, but....computer science teaches using dead folks' PCs is bad Karma in the next life.

Is it a windows logon password or a bios/setup password? If its a windows logon password you will have to google search "how to remove windows logon password. If its a bios/setup password then you will have to contact the maker of the laptop for support.
