Ok so i accidently spilt some coke on my keyboard (the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid), happens alot to me and never had a problem with it.

Now suddenly my PC would just shut down when I plug my keyboard in. Any USB port, still the same. The keyboard has no issue with any key and all lights work on it. I'm confused as hell. And annoyed as this is just another dollop of crap for a bad day lol.

Any ideas on what's wrong and maybe possible fixes? I am letting it dry out at the moment with all keys removed for the time being, maybe it'll work in the morning but I doubt it.

And don't say "you spilt coke on it, its pretty clear" or anything like that. I've spilt alot of stuff on it, beer, coke, water etc and it never had a problem. Until now suddenly...

Although you have been lucky enough to get away with it before, It may be that this particular spill got into the wrong place or it may be a build up of all the spills.

If it only happens when you plug this keyboard in, it would suggest the problem is the keyboard, use another keyboard to test with and if the machine runs fine, that pretty much confirms your current keyboard is at fault.

In which case before buying another keyboard, you could try stripping the faulty one and giving it a good clean and dry out and see if that will be enough to rectify the fault.

Well my Pc works fine with my old keyboard. The other keyboard does work, I tested it on a different machine and it first worked fine and nothing happened. I tested booting with the keyboard plugged in and it then suddenly said Nope, I'm gonna break.

I guess its time to find the receipt etc and RMA it :(

You could try manually removing the driver for the keyboard in device manager, then it should pick up on next reboot and re-install.
