Updated to latest via drivers and now 5.1 config dont work with only front speaekrs and sub working. Been trying to adjust in VIa audio deck for hours without success. Anyone know solution please? ta

Did you check the sound settings on your computer? You said you updated the drivers (which would be for your sound card) and when you update the driver it can sometimes revert back to default settings.

Yes settings back to original and am trying to set it up. But its not happening.
Look in the sound control panel.

So got annoyed with this and bough asus xonar dx. Connected it all like in manual and set it up and same thing. Back speakers and center not responding. But sound seems somehow clearer. What to do? ta

At the risk of sounding like a patronising twat - have you set the z5500s to something other than stereo?
