So have a new windows 8 computer.
I am on firefox or google chrome

And in both cases the download fails.
What is the best way to troubleshoot this and get this figured out.

I am new to windows 8 coming from XP

They do attempt to download then fail.

It maybe because all the files on the computer are read only which does not allow me to save anything?

I just took some screen shots to send to you guys, and they saved, but do not show up in the folder I saved them too?? They are hidden? And I say hidden because I thought I made a mistake and went to save again and they show up in the save window box in paint. But when I got to it directly there is nothing in the folder?

and I did this to remove read only, but it said access denied. >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCm799E0qM8
maybe it made things worse?

Have you checked the downloaded files folder? Can you tell if the files attempted to download?

could not be saved because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

Got this pop up and a failure to download daemon tools from file hippo.

Create another directory on the c: or d: called download or working. then change settings for download in the browser to the new directory then try downloading. Might want to even try creating another profile with admin rights and log in with that. try both.

Okay so creating another directory on C did not work.
But making another user account did.
The problem is none of my information is on the other account.
Is there a way to give the main account the same privileges as the new account?

Edit: or transfer my things to the new account and delete the old one?

All you need to do is copy and paste the things you want from old account to new account. Use windows explorer to do this.

This is all really stupid actually.. Why can I not just fix the original admin account?
I am set with full privileges and administrative right I thinkk

The profile itself may be corrupt and the only way to fix that is to create a new account. If paste is grayed out then most likely you didn't copy anything.

I tried again, ya copy and paste doesn't work.
Can i just delete the old account?
Or will this cause problems?

Can't delete old account without transferring files you need. If the files aren't important then delete the old account.

The original main account does not have a delete option. But the new one I created does.
What are my options or what am I looking at?
