Hacking

So, this is a pretty urgent and important question.

Last year, (1 1/2 months ago) my friend and I created a fake Facebook profile to message a girl from school that I really like. Upon checking her unprotected Facebook page I saw that a young man had commented on her pictures and statuses, so - don't ask me why - but through my fake profile I felt empowered to message him as well. I told him to stay away from her or else I'll take him down.
Turns out, in school that I know this kid and he comes to the same event I go to. One and a half weeks ago he briefly mentioned it, out of nowhere that this girl, who is his friend, had a stalker and that that kid had sent him death threats. Of course I knew he was talking about me. He said the had reported them to ... I don't know? The campus police, facebook. No idea. But it turned out that the profile was fake. So that's what he said.
I listened and I knew it was about me, but of course I didn't say anything. Also wasn't aware that I had sent death threats.
I took the profile down after that incident, but he had blocked it already anyway, so he couldn't see it anymore.

Now, it's important to come to the next part:

A week later, he was acting all weird. I tutor a class as well, and he's in that class. He submitted his homework and added all kinds of extra things to the assignment, such as "No one died." or "His feet aren't hooves" or "He didn't let a pirate in". On top of that he was acting all weird, didn't show up to class and didn't respond. I know from others that he suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder and that he's bipolar, so I tried not to panic. Easier said than done.

What I'm thinking is: the police wouldn't have been involved. They wouldn't have dealt with a minor thing like this, also, they would have come to my house with a warrant or something.
So my idea is that he hacked my computer or anything. And I have no idea how this works or how he could have found out.
Nothing on that fake profile was real.. email, photos.. nothing.
How did he figure this out? Did he hire someone? He never physically had my computer in his hands, he had blocked my Facebook account, so he couldn't see it. And how on Earth does he know it's me? My friends were like: don't worry, he's just having his period, because he's bipolar. But I think that would be too big of a coincidence.
I'd be really glad if some experts could tell me how it's possible to obtain infortmation on the REAL person behind a fake Facebook profile when the email isn't real, when the photos aren't real, and when the account is disabled and technically invisible to the person who blocked the profile? I'm at a loss. My friend from the police said it was super unlikely and difficult to do that without having the computer in your hands. And even then. It's unlikely.

I hope someone can help me with this.

They can easily find you by your IP address and by your ISP all the way to your home address...
It doesn't matter how many fake facebook profiles or how many fake E-mail addresses you use...

That is why if you are doing something like this you must never ever do it from your own home because they can easily find you.
Instead do it from a free internet cafe or something...

Besides...couldn't your friend just walk over to that girl and ask her out???
He is not gonna die if she turns him down.
Every single girl turned me down until this day and hey...I am still alive.

Yeah, but how do they have a name to that? Even if they had the IP? How can they get the IP, though? Even if they knew the address how would they know I live there? Oh and how do they even get the IP? From what?

How do you know he knows it was you? You sure his PTSD isn't just screwing with him?

This sounds like the beginning of a very mediocre /horror/thriller.....thing.

Edit: Oh, I think the username is clever at least.

Facebook will not provide IP addresses without a subpoena. And an IP address is pretty much anonymous without a subpoena to your ISP. Also, Police departments generally take threats of violence fairly seriously, whether via an online account or in person...because it reflects poorly upon them if they don't and assault, battery, or manslaugter/murder occurs as a result.

If there is ANY threat involved, the police will find them. In a heart beat. Especially if they are using facebook. Thats why if you wanna threaten someone just do it to their face haha.

Okay, thanks everyone. Yeah, but if police were involved they would have already showed up and they need a warrant, right? This was like 6 weeks ago.
It was so confusing to me that his all happened now, 6 weeks after, and I never contacted him ever since. I'm kinda torn. Some people say if you messaged them once and they put it in the command on windows it will reveal your IP and your exact location. I tried using one of those trackers on my own IP and it turns out it was not reliable, didn't locate me anywhere near my actual location.
Judging from the way he behaves, though, he does know and I have no idea why. The account is disabled and I haven't sent anything to him in like 6 weeks.

Might be worth taking the time to learn a bit about both those disorders. I am not sure why you would threaten someone with PTSD through the internet.

Anyhow, if he is the average person he probably has not found your address via your IP address. You are probably just overly concerned at this point. don't do that again in the future and you won't have to worry

Ok, woow. Many problems here... First: Why would you threaten someone that is talking to the girl you want to go out with? Go and talk to her, she's never going to like you if you don't. So basically if you ever go out with her you'll threaten everyone who talks to her on Facebook? That's not going to last for long...

You seem a little paranoid, you have no proof that he knows and the clues you gave us aren't even relevant to the problem...

But yes if the police feels this threat is worth checking out, IP address can reveal where those threats were coming from.

You're doing it all wrong, man up a bit!

WhatTheHack...Christ man...if this was so serious then the police would have come to you 6 freaking weeks ago!
Relax will you?
And tell your friend to walk over to that girl and ask her out him self!
And if he gets refused,he will get refused,if he gets slapped he will get slapped,if he gets bad response he will get bad response and so on...it's all part of life!
Look at me...I got rejected every time and I am still here healthy and alive.

So your friend is not gonna die if he gets rejected...

You complicate things for no reason...

Well because the way he acts is a weird coincidence. And he's only acting that way with me. Also, I know from a friend that he worked as an IT person for a log time.. So, yeah... Idk.
No I'm not paranoid. It was just a little too obvious.

No I'm not paranoid. It was just a little too obvious.

And it's not about the girl, but about that he could get me in serious trouble.

It's not about the girl, it's about you man, that was the best way to look like a coward although all you are is shy and possessive (which most girls hate). So either man up and talk to her or leave her alone and let other people do what you can't.

Death threats seriously...

What's even more bothering is that you're telling us your story like it's normal and you're the victim...

If all you said in the message was "I told him to stay away from her or else I'll take him down."

I honestly don't consider that a death threat. If you said something like, I'll come over to your house and beat you to a pulp, that's one thing. This sort of things goes on ALL the time online, especially on facebook with all the drama.

Oh definitely. I'm not a malicious person. I'm also worried about this affecting him a lot. Can you also get an IP from an email address? Maybe he compared the IP of the fake facebook account with that of my real email when I sent notes to the class? Also, is that illegal?
