I am doing a report for college so I am polling tablets and desktop computers. Which do you prefer?

That's like comparing apples to oranges. The proper question would be do you use laptops or desktops, as a tablet isn't even in the same league. Anyways, I'm going to answer the question anyways and say both.

Desktops aren't going anywhere; and if they are, it's not because of tablets.

I think you are asking the wrong people. Those that hang out on this forum are pretty techy people so will heavily favor desktops or both.

I think less techy people ("average" computer users) are using desktops less and most, if not all, of their computing needs can be accomplished using a tablet. These people mostly surf the web, use social networking sites, email, stream video, etc... which can all be done using a tablet.

Yep, you did hit the nail on the head.

For what I do, I'd prefer to use a desktop than a tablet - and I'd even prefer to use a laptop over a tablet.

Tablets were almost a low revenue generator for companies except Apple's iPads, that is why you see more convertibles these days. My work usually needs portability and performance close to a desktop so I prefer a heavy laptop. Yeah I voted for desktop. End users generally don't buy according to their usage and end up buying high end laptops/tablets in which a nice desktop could have been built.

I actually have never seen a convertible in public, and know only one person who has who already had a tablet but needed a laptop for more powerful work.
