Hey guys need some quick urgent advice. I'm in need of a laptop and have been offered 2 good deals.

One is a Toshiba R830-143 (Intel i5 processor, 6GB RAM) - 13.3" £230

Other is a newer laptop Asus S56C (Intel Core I5, 4GB Ram, Nvidia Geforce graphics card) - 15.6" £240

Which one is better, i usually just watch movies and browse the internet, nothing extreme. :)

Cheers

The ASUS is a better laptop, probably quality wise and definitely spec wise, as it has a nVidia GPU, and is a year newer which probably means a newer generation i5.

Which Nvidia does it have? If battery life is important to you the one with the Nvidia will on average get worse battery life from personal experience.

Discrete graphics can mean less battery life, but the i5 in the Asus is a newer Ivy Bridge with a much smaller power draw. But, the Toshiba has a battery 50% larger. That will end up being more or less a wash.

The Asus is thinner, but heavier with a larger screen (with the same resolution). The Asus is also much better looking IMO.

I would choose the Asus. If you plan on doing even light gaming, get the Asus.

Another thing to consider do you want a smaller or bigger screen? both those laptop have different size screens.

If you are going to use it to watch movies and such the bigger screen will be a nice feature!
