There is no 8 core processor for that board, only a 6 core and they are over $1000.

The X79 is only for socket 2011, which they don't have any 8 core CPU's for, all other desktop chipsets only support up to 32GB of RAM I believe. As far as desktop CPU's go, Intel doesn't even make 8 core CPU's yet.

Haswell-E should be out fairly shortly.

This should include an 8 core part, although you would have to buy a X99 board and DDR4.

on the scan computer website there is 17 Intel Xeon 8 core processors how do I get a motherboard to fit them thanks

Again, you should let us know what you are using the computer for.

The 6-core Ivy bridge-E would be much better in gaming compared to that Xeon.

Here are all the motherboards that can take 64GB of RAM.

Well you definately don't need 64gb of ram. 8gb would be plenty. I would actually change your motherboard to an 1150 and get 4770k processor.

None, the 3930k.
Huh?

I use the computer for downloading and gamming so what`s the best 6 core then for Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4, Intel X79, Socket 2011
would this Intel Core i7 Extreme 4960X be any good
What is the rest of your setup? There have been numerous benchmarks comparing lower model i7's to high end i7's, with all else being equal the results were pretty much identical. If you use your computer for gaming, you want to upgrade the GPU, the CPU is not the bottleneck.

Xeon's are not gaming CPU's, and you do not need 64GB of RAM for gaming, you don't utilize anything even remotely close to that.

Just to clear some things up you can use 2011 xeon processor on that motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.us/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4288 and i know for sure one of them is an 8 core. Though if you're just playing games and downloading things there is no need to get a xeon. a 3930k/4930k would be more than enough and you can overclock it unlike the xeons.
I don't get that chart, it lists the 22nm Xeon's, but on the right it says N/A for not supported.

Only 32 nm xeons are supported it seems, but still some of them have more than 6 cores. I don't know why they didn't just remove those from the list. Guess they were lazy and made a general one.
