Security Camera rendering

I have a security system at my house (qsee) I have some footage on my computer but it looks as if the quality is like 240P and I can't really see that well once it gets dark outside. Is there a way to render this footage to make it 1080P? or at least visible?

Not sure if it matters but i copied the files from my DVR and is in the FAT32 format.

If the video was saved in 240p, you're out of luck. Are your cameras HD? If so, make sure they are recording in HD.

If the video file that you have is only 240p (or something else of low quality), you can't do anything to magically increase the quality to 1080p. You're stuck with what the original video file has for detail.

don't they render things all the time though, like blue ray. some movies weren't filmed in HD like that but they are rendered.into it. couldn't I just burn my footage on dvds and then render it in a blue ray converter?

No, again you can't just magically "create" extra detail. You are stuck with whatever detail is in the original video. There is no magic software that will take 240p video and convert it to 1080p HD video.

I don't know what the movie studios use, but just because a movie wasn't originally released in HD doesn't mean they didn't film it in HD.

but you see people with those converter things that say "convert your VHS TO BLUEEE RAAAAYY!!!!" i think there are also dvd ones. my question is, those weren't recorded in HD and they come out with clearer picture. why wouldn't the same principal apply with my situation?

It's possible someone else may chime in here with information that I'm not aware of, but I've converted many VHS videos to DVD but it's just changing the media, it's the same quality.

I don’t know if I understand your question exactly and don’t think I can answer it, but I have improved my cameras night vision.

For night time vision I bought these 48-LED CCTV IR Infrared Night Vision Illuminators to add extra night time lighting. They take a little experimenting for the precise location and direction but they have enhanced my imagines 100%. Most of the Security cameras are self adjusting for light and if there is too much contrast from the additional light, it causes white out. I found that by moving the additional IR light near the camera and pointing it in the same direction it works best.

But of course nothing takes the place of quality cameras and I’m now considering going to a HD system. The only problem I have is that the HD systems use Ethernet cable and I already have the whole place wired with coax BNC connectors.

Thanks for the reply. But im talking about rendering footage that has already been shot. and turning it into 1080p or at least better quality. The guy above said it cant be done im sure he is right but i just wonder what would happen if I put it on a dvd then put the dvd in a blueray converter. Would that change the picture to blue ray or would I just have a blue ray disc with this 240p Sh**
