Bigger screen better pcture?

I was on here before asking about rendering my Security camera footage.
I know its not possible now but I have another question.

If I manage to watch my footage on my bigscreen HD T.V. would i get a better picture. I know it wouldn't be HD (footage is 480p) but I'm thinking, bigger screen better picture right?

instead of watching some stuff on my Computer monitor wouldn't it be better to watch it on my T.V. that has a bigger screen, surely I would see more given the screen would be bigger.

my logic for this question is that on my security monitor when I want to see a better picture of, lets say for example, camera 3 I click on it and the screen gets bigger and I can see more of the footage.

Wouldn't the same principal work with a bigger screeen?

That only works if you aren't already seeing the video in full resolution. In your example, seeing 3 cameras on a small screen the 3 video feeds are lower resolution than the full footage resolution when viewing just one feed at a time.

Taking 480p and blowing it up on a 50" 1080p display will be no different than viewing it on your computer. It's like zooming in on a photo already at 100%, you can't get anymore detail.

It would not look better. In fact, it may even look worse. Screen size is just that, size. The pixles are really what matter when considering how much detail you can get out of an image. A few things need to be considered when looking at image quality. Source file (image or video) and what it is being displayed to.

In your case, a 480p image will not be clearer just because it is on a 1080p TV. It will still only have 640x480 pixels worth of information. It can't show any more detail than what the source file has. So it will show your 480p video file stretched over a 1080 screen. It will be bigger (in size) but not any clearer than that same file on a smaller screen.

Hope that helps!
