I don't have an exact budget, I'll get a subsidized loan to buy it but I'm getting a job so i won't have to pay interest as i'll pay it back in the next year, but that said I'm not going for a $1k monster, $500 is my goal but I'll say $800 max. You know what i want, should play games well when i have time but last as long as possible. I haven't kept up but gonna take a wild guess and say Intel is still the way to go. I'm thinking 15.6" will be suitable, don't want smaller and don't really need bigger (and the resulting heavier) but if it's the same price and specs I'd go for a bigger screen. For the obvious but just in case, 8gb should be easy, 500gb should be enough but 1tb would be nice, i don't need 1080p since my monitor now is a 19" 1440*900.

If i can find a steal on a lenovo Y50 I think it'd be perfect, it could actually replace my computer pretty much, if there's a sale under $900 i might jump on it

It's 5am and my head is scattered and i can't sleep so I know there'll be some things i left out, so ask away, but i think most of you know what I want and can make a fair assumption.

i have basically decided to get one of these 2

I'm leaning towards the 510, i believe i can order a DVD drive and swap the 2nd gpu to it when I'm not at home, which would make the battery last a lot longer than the 4hrs with it and it might even be able to use optimus to run off the intel HD. But I'm wondering if it will be possible to get an ultrabay 860m next year or something, although that would probably cast way too much and I'd need the new battery too.

For practical purposes the 50 seems smarter but i'm drawn more to the 510 for the .1GHz, 16gbs, and 24gb ssd and slightly better gaming on good SLI games, but 4hrs is like nothing and some games won't like the SLI

Ultrabay accessories are almost impossible to get, don't use that as a pro for the Y510p. If you want great battery life, Lenovos in general have small batteries, and if you get a SLI Y510p your stuck with a 755 when your not gaming, no HD graphics available.

Is there anything better out there? And is the unneeded ram and .1ghz with worse to 15% better frame rates from sli worth 3hrs battery vs 5-6

And a second actual battery is only $42 although then I have to swap it sometime to charge it also and plug it up while swapping

How much is my computer worth?

1: They're both basically the same. Take your pick. I'd choose the larger 6 cell battery. Why they even offer a 4 cell, god only knows.

2: You can probably get....oh wow; that's dated. I'd only pay about $200 myself, but that's because I know stuff. You may be able to get away with $350-400 if you're lucky.

Parting it out, you should be able to get a good $400.

Also, if I had to pick one, the Y50. Micro Stuttering only happens at low FPS, which is why you should never SLI low end cards. 755s, while decent today, will start to get low FPS and micro stuttering within 1, maybe 2 years. A 860M is weaker, but you'll never have to deal with micro stuttering when you get low FPS.

Looking around the 860m is pretty close to my 470 and I want to upgrade cuz this is starting to struggle and my monitor isn't 1080p like these. Compared to other crap on craigslist my computer should be worth like $500, and I have a friend who agreed to $400, so now I'm thinking I may as well go for a MSI GT70 or something with a 870m
