Keyboard doesn't work in game - PS/2 to USB

Hey guys,

It's been a while... I recently bought a new/old keyboard that's PS/2 so I used a PS/2 adapter to USB to plug it into my pc.

Now, this converter worked perfectly on my ancient wireless keyboard/mouse setup - in game especially. But, this "new" wired keyboard with the same converter is giving me problems in game.

I hold down W A S or D and my guy runs for a few seconds and then stops. Sometimes, as if by magic, he runs for longer than 2 seconds but ultimately the character stops whenever it wants to. Game is Chivalry. Didn't test on others.

The only thing I did was turn off power management for the USB inputs on this computer but that didn't work. I went into notepad and held down each key for several seconds and nothing stopped so I really have no clue what's going on...

Any ideas? Thanks!

BUMP!

Could always be the adapter.. but it worked fine with the wireless setup I had. The setup was a ps2 wire and a usb wire plugged into my computer.

Instead of buying another adapter, why not just buy a USB keyboard? They are cheap as dirt really....I paid $30 for my wireless one that has a touchpad on it. I would do that....

You need to ensure the BIOS settings are correctly configured for the port, that any hardware acceleration is enabled in the games. Before doing this, go to device manager and right click and uninstall (completely) all USB hubs. Itll automatically reinstall them. Put the keyboard USB into a different port (each port has its own driver stack).

Because this is probably the best keyboard I've ever used and it's just a compaq I've had for several years. Found someone selling unopened ones on ebay and bought 2 more. Quiet, low-profile keys. None of that spacing that keyboards commonly have today. Haven't felt anything like this keyboard.

As for the post below yours, thank you - I will try that out when I am back on that computer.

Didn't work uninstalling the USB drivers. Guess I will have to have a separate keyboard for gaming.
