Graphics card upgrade problem.

I am trying to upgrade to the his ice q turbo (2gb), but here's the problem: when I install the card the computer wont boot. Not even to the BIOS. There are also no error beeps (there are no beeps at all).
I am using my old graphics card now and everything is fine, so that eliminates the possibility of a fried motherboard/ power supply. I have also tried rearranging the RAM to check if the motherboard had some weird preference, but still nothing. I've also made sure everything is connected properly.

*Side-note* the card clearly gets power (the fan will work when I turn on the computer). Maybe a compatibility issue?

Here are my stats:

MSI z68MA-ED55 motherboard w/ i7 sandy bridge 2600k
Ripjaw 8gb DDR3
his ice q turbo (2gb) ---- Trying to upgrade to atleast
sound blaster titanium x-fi sound card
4 Hdd 1 SSD
1000w power supply

If you need any more clarification, let me know. Until then, I am completely stumped.

What model video card? Did you plug in the PCIe power connectors to the card?
his radeon hd 7850

and yes, I have tried a combination: a 6 pin adapter and the power supply's 6 pin, both of the power supply's 6 pins, etc..
Basically, I tried all possible variations (with the power inputs) and still nothing.

Stupid question here but its happened before... You do have the monitor plugged into the video card output and not the onboard video?

Yes lol

Another thing, I had got a replacement card prior to the current one. The previous one had the same problem (The card clearly got power.. The fan was running.. But the computer wouldn't boot. Literally, the computer just turns on. No BIOS either.
I'm going to test the card in another computer and see if it runs into the same problem.

lovely?

The PC is acting as if the PSU or RAM is bad, and my guess is the PSU. I would assume the card was bad, but if the exact same problem happened with another video card, it points elsewhere. Question, was the other video card that didn't work also more power hungry than the card that normally runs that pc?

EDIT: I know your PSU is 1KW. It's a strange problem to come across more than once, however, it does happen.

Yes, the previous card only needed a single 6 pin in contrast to the new one that requires 2.

  1. Shutdown.
  2. Remove old graphics card.
  3. Clear CMOS (remove motherboard battery).
  4. Turn power switch off at wall and PSU (leave power cable connected)
  5. Hold down power button for 30 seconds
  6. Re-install CMOS battery
  7. Install new graphics card
  8. Turn PSU and wall switch on.
  9. Turn computer on.
  10. Update BIOS
  11. Restart into BIOS
  12. Set correct settings.

Still nothing.
I made sure the 6 pin connectors were okay with the old card and they both were fine. I also calculated the energy consumption of my build and it is running around 600w, so that eliminates the psu issue.

I'm still working on testing it with another computer to make sure the card isn't bad.

Darren, I updated the bios with the old card then used the instructions from Okedokey.

Problem was SOLVED! Out of date BIOS didn't recognize new graphics card.
Thank you all for the help!
