My luck, the battery in my two-year old iPod touch is failing. It will no longer hold a charge for more than 6-8 hours. I used to get 3-4 days out of a single charge, but now I have to charge the stupid thing twice a day. I have tried two different "power banks" on this thing but they but they just run hot and short out. I have a 2-yr repair warranty, but it is probably gone by now.

If I DO get it in for a new battery, do they just replace the battery, or give me a whole new iPod?

These stupid lithium-polymer cells are crap!!!

Yeah, like I will open my ipod and do that.

You are infuriatingly stupid at times. What response do you expect from your original post? We'll either tell you how to fix it or tell you to go get it done professionally. If you refuse to do it yourself and are just planning to send it in, why are you even posting about it? If you have a question about what Apple is going to do to your product when you send it in, read what their information says about getting it worked on. Should surely tell you, and Apple is a better resource for what Apple does as opposed to asking here.

Well you can either cough up somewhere between $79-$149 for Apple to do it, or you could spend $15 to do it yourself. Don't you research anything for yourself before posting threads like this? 1 Google search got me this information...

I am stupid. The battery wasn't failing after all! I never disconnected my VPN I was on during class so all day there was an active connection going. I disconnected my VPN and the battery is going back up.

We all assumed you did the normal troubleshooting, such as a factory reset, already. I guess not. Before sending anything in for an issue like bad battery life or slow performance, always try a factory reset first.
