I'm just curious because I got this recently and my older laptop never reached temperatures like this. I looked it up and it said the max is 100 C but i think 86 is cutting it a bit close isn't it?

(It only hits 86 when I'm playing games on ultra or high settings)

lovely?

Before replacing the thermal paste on my Laptop, it'd regularly hit 87c in the most demanding games. This was helped along of course by the gpu, which has its heatpipes run straight across the cpu. If replacing the thermal paste is a possibility for you, you might find that you don't need the laptop cooling pad unless you take your laptop into bed or set it (gasp!) on your lap.

Honestly I use it tons on my lap though generally I find using any laptop while in my bed is kind of awkward.
