LCD Cleaner vs Water

The cleaner might be a little more expensive, but which is better for the screen? As far as damage and not leaving a slight residue.

The stuff you have to trip to the store to get or distilled/bottled water?

i think voyagerfan hit it right. pay attention to the % of alcohol. 50%, turn screen off, do not rub hard and wipe only. not much pressure. right now i have eye glass wipes that are very wet and works well. just takes more time to wipe. also don't spray on the screen. wet the wipe.

LCD cleaners work very well, they are just expensive for what they are. I use them all the time at work cleaning laptops and screens and they never leave any residue or spots. Water is awful for it, you will get water spots and it won't clean it very well. Whatever you use, make sure it's just slightly damp, you don't want a soaked rag as it can cause damage from drips and will leave spots.
