don't know password

there are many sites offering the download of the OS, I think the illegal activity must start upon ways around certified registration, license, activation. I'm fairly new at this and have not run into this scenario so it's educational for me. The question may be asked, how is this illegal?

There's a lot of stupid crap in this thread.

A) You don't need to reinstall the operating system.

B) You shouldn't post your E-mail addy for all the spammers to get a hold of when a private message would work. Unless this board reads PMs. Enable private messages in your user control panel!

C) Follow my instructions here that I posted in my forum. I won't post a link because the mods may jump on my ass.

If you're looking to reset a password or bypass the login screen in Windows 7 read this. May work for Vista and Windows 8.

Or use Offline NT Password And Registry Editor, http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

I personally never use a Windows password. All my computers use Truecrypt.

How exactly is this legal or even within forum rules?

I'm not sure really. If it isn't pirated then he could have just posted a link. But I couldn't find a link to Windows 7 anymore. M$ provided them. You just need your CD key off the side of the computer.

as I said this has been educational for me in many ways, every inch of the way from getting this computer has been difficult, no video at first, one of two hard drives don't work, no boot, then when it does I need a password, all my attempts to reset and clear the password did not work so I thought a fresh install would work, now the system won't boot with the 64 bit OS, I boot the hard drive by putting it in my other computer and it boots, but Microsoft says "no key for you" (must be said like soup nazi), then i post the COA and my email which now I know was stupid. I appreciate the expert help here, I feel like a novice Briggs and Stratton mechanic getting advice from 12 cylinder Lamborghini mechanics

One could argue that it would be stupid to receive a used computer from someone else and continue using it. The vast majority of people have no idea how to properly maintain a PC from either their own mess or malware.

How exactly is this legal or even within forum rules?

Are you really going to argue off-topic semantics with the administrator?

Have you tried burning a 32-bit ISO on to CD and booting with that?? I'm also guessing that the restore disc (they came with them back then) didn't happen to be in the things that you were given.
