I've never built a computer before and I want a gaming rig for under $10k. I am at $9500 for the parts listed below.

Heres what I have so far...
- Intel Core i7 990x 6 core
- Asus rampage Vextreme motherboard
- Evga supernova 1300W 80 gold plus power supply
- Corsair hydro series h110 280mm high performace liquid cpu cooler
- Cooler master cosmos II ultra tower case with aluminum and steel case
- Crucial 64 GB 4x16GDDR4 2133 (pc4-2133) DRx4 eec registered 288-pin server memory
- EVGA GeForce GTX Titan x 12GB GDDR5 384 bit pci-e 3.0dvi 3xdp hdmi g sync ready graphics card (x2)
- Scan disc extreme pro 960 GB sata 6.0 gb/s 2.5in 7mm height solid state drive (x4)
- Asus xonar phoebus rog gaming sound card set
- HP envy 32in led quad HD monitors (x4)

Besides bluray and a disc drive, is there anything I'm missing. Any advice is welcome.

I'd swap the 990x for a 5820k or 5930k. Stick with the asus rampage v extreme x99, very good board. Do you need 64gb RAM? If you don't do very heavy editing drop it to 16gb.

Get the h110i gt instead of the h110.

You want desktop memory not server memory, and get 3000mhz.

Just get 1 SSD and a large 4TB 7200rpm HDD for other files.

The Titan x is a great card but also very costly. Do you plan to game on all 4 monitors and if so at what refresh rate and resolution?

$9500? For that? Are we talking USD or Zimbabwean dollars?
Edit: I guess that'd be mainly sucked up in the displays

Where the hell are you buying this? Also, you paired ECC DDR4 with a DDR3 system, and chose old X58 parts, the 990x came out in 2011 and doesn't fit in the new 2011-3 socket.

What games are you looking to play anyway, anything?

I'd go with a 5960X build over that easily. For gaming you don't need 64 GB of RAM or 4x 960 GB SSDs in RAID0 though. Those are all a waste of money unless you have a very specific requirement.

Thanks for the advice. I don't plan on doing heavy editing. I do plan on using all 4 monitors for gaming at 3,840-by-2,160 at the highest refresh rate for the monitor if possible but no lower than 60. I may look for monitors with thinner edges but I'm sticking with the ultra 4k.

Just curious, why the h110i and hdd vs 3 sdd?

An SSD is mainly for faster app and OS loading. It won't make if any difference on gaming. Use a fast HDD for games and an SSD for apps and OS.

RAM for editing get 16gb unless you utilise over 16gb it won't make anything faster so your system will perform the same with 16gb as it will with 64gb. Gaming you will use like 6gb total RAM. 16gb is plenty for light-med editing.

Even 2x Titan x won't run 4 4k monitors at 60fps, they will struggle with 2. You will Just about get 60fps on 4 monitors at 1080p. Never mind 120-144hz.

You would need 4 Titan x to stand a chance against 60fps on 4 4k monitors. and even then high end games like crysis will struggle. Not to mention the heat and power usage. Why 4 monitors?

Thanks for all the input. I want 4 screens just because it will be awesome to game on 4 screens set up 2x2. I'm mounting them on wall mounted swivel arms so I can reconfigure them and use 3 for flight sim and racing games, windshield and side windows. The Titan Z is hard to find but I am not going to start this build until the end of May so hopefully I can find one before then.

I am going with 64gb of ram with 52 for ram disk and 12 for the OS. Below is my purchase list. I'll be searching the web for deals. I'll post udates and pics as I start to put it all together.

Thanks again for all of your advice.

edit: After some research it seems the Titan X out performs the Titan Z. So, I will go with dual Titan X's. Has anyone run them with 3-4 monitors?

A good gaming keyboard and mouse will make a world of difference also. You are going to bust that $10K budget if you want all 4 four monitors to run at 60fps max at high resolution. We are talking 4 each of the Titan X. You said that you will stick with 64GB RAM and that is fine but I highly suggest it not be the RAM that you have listed in your first post.. Why are you choosing and OLD CPU?

EDIT. I see you made the changes to your latest parts list. Going to be one heck of a system.

I have decided to go with three monitors and three titan X GPUs.

Any suggestions on the keyboard and mouse? I'm going all out so no point on skimping, I just don't know what would be the best.

This forum is an awesome resource. Thanks for all of your advice and input.

The problem with suggesting mice and keyboards is that everyone of us have different size hands and what is good for one may feel awful to someone else. Try reading a few reviews on the gaming keyboard and mice. My son bought a gaming keyboard that came with its own gaming mouse but decided to get a mouse from a different company because of feel and dpi.

In my opinion 2 monitors would be ample for gaming, but that's just me. Sounds like you have a lot of money at your disposal. Must be nice.
