I had VDSL set up at home while I wait for the fibre rollout to come to my street.

The perks of living on your own island! Although it's probably tough when you need to download overseas.

Is that the fastest server you found too?

They have their own speedtest server similar to google fiber, so that was the one I was hitting. I tested to some others like Houston but it topped out around the same place.

Still need to move over my other network gear and put it through its paces..

I don't think it's it's flash performance, as even my old phones can nearly max out my 150Mbps connection. I'd put my blame on the wireless chip in the Chromebook.

Eh, it's amusing watching it chug and dip fps just trying to update the tach. I think the phone client doesn't have the web abstraction layer as well.

I feel icky using this wireless bridge but it's all I have for the moment in my new place :( Seems kind of low real-world bandwidth for 802.11ac wave1. This crappy Almond+ router doesn't allow you to turn off the wireless repeater when in bridge mode (hooray for rebroadcasting on the same frequency for the same LAN traffic)...

The topology is a fraction of what it once was ;)

Are you using an 80MHz-wide channel?

Yeah, -96 dbm signal looks pretty crap but the speeds are pretty consistent to when they were a couple feet away from each other too.. That and the device is only about 15 feet away through one, wood wall.

I am honestly impressed you can negotiate a rate above a few Mb/s with a -96dBm signal. Usually anything above -80dBm is practically unusable.

Well, my $79.99 promotion ended this month for my Comcast 150/20 plan, and it now back up to $114.95/mo. Looks like it's time to threaten to cancel and get the promo price again.
