Currently my gaming pcs USB ports have stopped working so yeah time for new motherboard I was looking at this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CXIVEA2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1RG71SOW7FK03 because I'd like to use SLI and get a better processor (debating over iwhich i7 or i5 To get )as opposed to my g3258 and asrock H97 pro,and the card I'm going to use SLI with is the evga gtx geforce 960 ssc and I'm skeptic whether or not I can run it on a 500w power supply so I'd like you guys opinion or suggestions to these decisions...

What's the brand/model of your power supply? The motherboard you listed should be high quality since it's an expensive Asus model. You could shop around to find a board with the same chipset and some features that are more useful for you.

Nvidia lists the GTX960 minimum system power as 400 watts, graphics card using 120 watts.

Two cards could use 240 watts maximum. That leaves 260 watts for the rest of the system. If your power supply is a quality one it should be able to do it, but you should check the power available on the +12V rail, as that's what all PC's use.

Get one good single card instead of getting 2 cards. With 2 cards there is more heat and more chance of something happening.

Not to mention a LOT of games have issues with CFX/SLi setups. A single 'doubly faster' card is going to be much more consistent than a SLi setup of lower end cards.
