First build

Hey guys,

As many of you know, I will be building my first computer this summer. I don't want it particularly to be anything but I want it to be good enough to last about seven to ten years (being optimistic there). I would like to stay in the 1000 euros mark. Here is what I have picked so far:

Asus Z97-A
Radeon R9 290 GAMING - 4 Go
HyperX Fury RED Series 4 Go - DDR3 1333 MHz Cas 9 (two of those)
Samsung 850 EVO 250 Go
Barracuda 2 TB
Corsair CX600M
Core i5-4570 - 3,2 GHz
Atx Zalman Z1 (USB 3.0) case

This totals at 1100 euros and I'd like to lower that price a little bit. I'm thinking about getting a cheaper GPU and MB what do you think?
Also, what else do I need to buy to build the computer?
Thanks for your help!

Seems decent. I'd at least get a K series CPU for overclockability.

You could pair it with some 1866+ RAM for the same or negligible cost difference to get some more performance.

Anything I could change to lower the price? Have I overkilled anything?

I would get a case from NZXT, Fractal Design, or Corsiar. You can get something better than that Zalman for the same price from those three brands.

What resolution will you be playing at, and will you be playing demanding games? The R9-380 is significantly worse than the 290.

I know nVidia cards. I don't follow their AMD counterparts.

As far as processors go, as long as the mobo supports it, it will work.

You are good with the power supply, I wouldn't go any lower. Definitely get a 300 series card instead of a 200 series card. 1600mhz or 1866mhz over 1333mhz any day. Sometimes you can get 1866 cheaper then 1600. I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 250gb SSD drive. That only leaves case and motherboard to lower the price.

The 200 series is less power efficient and louder than the 300 series, but the 290 is a better card then the 380.

Thanks for your help.
About the psu @johnb35 , if I add the processor and gpu, that gives me 640 watt (about 640, did it yesterday). Are you sure it will be enough?

The motherboard box comes with SATA cables. You usually get 4 or so, so no need to buy extras unless you have special use cases like need super long ones or something :D
