KVM Switch Issue

Hi guys.

I have this KVM switch that I use for managing computers that are going to be installed with OS/Software. Not sure if this is a setting somewhere, that I can't find, or what's going on..

Scenario:
I have 8 computers connected to the KVM, and is currently managing computer #1. During the installation-process computer 4,6 & 7 have to re-boot, but when I'm managing computer #1, the re-boots are halted and will not start until the computer is chosen.

So if I don't actually switch over to the computers 4,6 & 7, they don't boot. When I switch over, it's like I turned on the power button.

This is not very.. optimal.. when I'm running SCCM and an installation of the OS requires 3 re-boots during the process.

Thnx in advance,
Mr. Moseng

What kind of KVM is it?

Where does it halt? At the BIOS, elsewhere? Is there an auto-pause setting somewhere the you missed perhaps?

Sorry for the late reply here. So much to do, and so little time! hehe.

The KVM is a MasterView Max - CS1308 (OSD DDC28) from Aten.
If you imagine you press the power button, then halt it before even the brand marking appears on your screen (before BIOS).

As far as I can see, there are no options or preferences for halting or pausing the system through the KVM.

Strange. I've got an aten, albeit a different model, which doesn't do what you're describing, and there's definitely nothing in the manual about it.

Is there anything related to the systems themselves? Perhaps they don't try to boot because they think a keyboard is not attached?

Yes, very strange.

Sometimes they halt because of the keyboard failure, but that is another issue that doesn't seem to have any connection to this problem. When a keyboard is not connected it halts, and gives the normal "a keyboard is not connected" error later during the boot sequence.
