The "L" in DDRL

Low voltage. DDR3L memory can run at DDR3 voltages. DDR3 memory probably won't run on DDR3L voltages though. If a motherboard only specs for DDR3L memory, don't run DDR3 memory on it as you might run into problems.
What is the advantage of having lower voltage in a DDR3L memory stick than the 1.5 in A DDR3? What are the 1.35 and the 1.5 voltages measurements of? Is it volts?

Yep lower power consumption and also lower heat production. Which in certain environment is very beneficial.

DDRL is commonly used in laptops. Possibly some All-in-one computers, like the iMac (the 2009 model uses it I believe)
