6700hq i7, 16gb ram, gtx 1070 gpu and my rog laptop is running gta 5 maxed at 1080p at only 45fps. What do you think is wrong? It should be getting 100+ fps. Thanks.

Probably running off of integrated video instead, might not be auto switching over?

Processor, it's a laptop so you're going to be bottlenecked pretty hard by a laptop CPU.

Problem SOLVED! So here's the deal. I had installed the latest gtx 1070 drivers thinking laptop gpu = desktop gpu in the case of the 10 series. If that is or isn't the case, installing the GPU drivers from the asus website solved the problem. Now it's pinned at 60fps full time (because of gsync).

What driver version is it?

I doubt the one on ASUS site is current.

I know eh? We're thinking power surges and a bad surge protector or SOMETHING. Could a bad power supply be the culprit? Not sure, but I've posted in a different thread addressing the issue.
Okay... see the way it seemed was that you were somehow trying to say that a graphics driver update cause 2 fried monitors..

Anyhow, yeah if your PSU is faulty, on its way out...etc... for sure it would cause you grief.
