Everything working, monitor isn't

As long as you install ram so that its in dual channel your fine. What motherboard do you have?

Also, you really can't install windows on a drive in one pc and transfer it to another pc without issues since hardware is different. You'll have to reinstall windows while the drive is inside the system it is intended for.

That's the thing, it's not in dual channel. I did not follow the population priority order indicated in the motherboard. Look the motherboard up. I installed in DDR3_A1 and DDR3_A2. Recommendation is DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2. It didn't work that way.

ASRock FM2A88X PRO3+ and 2 Kingston Fury X 4Gb 1866Mhz.

As long as you put them in the same color slots, it will be in dual channel. Try A1 and B1.

Just won't perform as well. I would actually rma the motherboard then its channel 1 doesn't work.

I can't RMA. I bought it from Amazon and when I was in the US. Now I'm in Argentina. They don't even ship here.

Something new is happening... When I boot, if I move the case in any way the damn thing freezes. What's the deal with that?

You most likely have a short then. Did you use the standoffs between case and motherboard?

Well you have a short somewhere. Make sure you only used the standoffs where specifically needed. Looks like you need 7 for motherboard.

Yes I only used the stand offs I needed. I´ll try to find it. Where else could I have a short? A bad connection maybe? Something I didnt push all the way in? Some of the connectors I´m not using for components touching the case or some other component?

Could be a loose connection but since 1 set of ram slots don't work then I can only assume short somewhere around there. I would remove motherboard from case and set on cardboard and try ram slots to see it works outside of the case. If it does, then definite shorting out.

Hey I just tries the second channel recommended and it's working. The problem was probably somewhere else! Maybe both SATA cables I tried were damaged, or maybe both ports. Either way the channel works and I installed it as recommended.

I'll try to sort it out on my own. Thanks for the assistance everyone!

Ok you evil mastermind. It was a standoff. I said it wasn't because I wasn't close to the PC and was convinced I used only 7. Thanks for the help!

Man I never knew those standoffs could be such a culprit in causing issues if not properly grounded, probably just jinxed myself for my next build.

That's basically the entire point of the standoffs, prevent the board from shorting.

That said... I've had several computers that I either built or saw working just fine missing one or more standoffs and/or screws. I think I had my machine running on 4 screws and 5 standoffs for a while when it should have had 6. Always want to do them all to be safe.

Yeah. My build right now has one stand off missing, there is no hole in the case to put it. There is a screw missing right below the 24-pin connector. Gotta hold the board like a monkey every time I want to plug it again to change something.
