Well, I have wnidows 10 and run Avast free and I hate windows defender. I like how Avast works for me so I will keep it.

I don't really use an anti virus. I mean, I have Malwarebytes installed but I only start it if I do something stupid online and I start getting popups and other weird stuff :p Last time I used it was like a month ago.

I tell people who commission me to build them a PC that it is a good safety measure to have, especially with those who may not have a complete understanding of how to "safe surf" the internet. For me, its just a "piece of mind" thing for my customers. Its not always a 100% guarantee, but I feel its better than nothing.

A) Firefox is a shit browser anymore and they don't know what the hell they are doing.

B) A definition-based anti-virus is better than nothing. But you should substitute that with CrypoPrevent, Sandboxie, or any other sandboxie-like program to prevent polymorphic viruses.

C) Buy a large enough external hard drive and always make a backup clone of your computer/s.

I agree with agent smith. Windows Edge is just as bad. Defender is basically worthless. The problem is not Firefox, even though the software is crap. But it is Windows that is so crappy and full of security holes. Apple did not have a problem for years. Linux sure as hell does not have that problem. On my system, I have turned off Cortana, since that opens holes up to wahzoo and I also shut off all services dealing with remote access. I continuously moniter everything even though I have security installed. There is always a chance of downloading a photo or video with a virus embedded into it. Such is life with windows.
