Front Panel Connectors

Hey everyone! I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

I've been trying to get this computer set up and I believe I've got everything plugged in the right place, the only thing I'm unsure about is the front panel connectors. I've got the four wires which are:
POWER LED, POWER SW, RESET SW and H.D.D LED. I'm unsure of where they go and where I put them in, below I've left some photos of the motherboard and If anyone could point out where they go into that would be great. I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Hello,

They should just match up with the connectors coming out of the case. Rule of thumb is that the ground wire on LEDs goes to the front or top of the case.

If you look closer on the bottom of the pins in the first shot (bottom right, white connectors) they will have what they are printed on the PCB.

If you gave us which motherboard model you have we could probably also find it in the manual for you.

I'm not sure what motherboard it is, someone has said a DDR2? but googling photos of it, it doesn't quite look the same. It doesn't really say much on the motherboard so I'm just unsure what pins I need to use. Looking at videos, their motherboards are usually coloured or are labelled in some sort of way, but this one it isn't, not that I can see anyway.

Would there be a mark on the motherboard saying what it is?:D sorry I'm clueless.

Best guess. Can't remember if it's more common for reset or power to be on the outer edge. I ASSUME the power button is the one on the left, but you can try them both and swap them if they're backwards. If the buttons work and the lights don't light up for power and HDD then you'll have to swap the pins/polarity.

Some motherboards have the model written somewhere. If what beers suggested doesn´t work take a picture of the whole thing and luckily we´ll get a model.

I looked at it again, there's a map of the pinout printed over by the SATA ports that basically matches the diagram above.

Your motherboard model is silkscreened on your motherboard. It's been that way for 17 years++ and that is probably printed underneath where your graphics card is.

Your front panel layout is silkscreened right above the front panel, see beers' post.

Note the + on the left of said silkscreen. That means the power LED and HDD LED wires go on with the + side facing left. Switches on the right can go any way you want as they are just a circuit and the +/- don't matter.

Your case may or may not have a speaker. If you don't have a speaker, you don't plug it in. It is however recommended to have a speaker to diagnose potential POST problems. You can get them on newegg and other places for a buck or two.

You REALLY need to clean that graphics card it is disgusting. Dust= heat. Dust from smokers=more heat. That card definitely came from a smoker.

BTW I notice you're using PATA/IDE drives and you aren't using your SATA port. Any SATA drive on the market would be at least 13 years old at this point and therefore highly unreliable. Their performance is also garbage level. You really want some SATA drives.
