Website restriction

Computer/ Internet novice here. Can’t get topic pages to load on a forum site. Only happens on the one site & when signed in, can lurk just fine, get “Can’t find”, or “SQL error" messages, from that website. Site owner says I must have a virus? All other Internet activity works perfectly. Have done numerous full system scans with Norton, Kapersky, & Microsoft, with nothing found. Have Windows 10 PC on DSL, both wired & wireless. Same problem on 3 other computers, & an IPAD on cell connection. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks.

It could be that your IP address is blocked for that site. I don't know how or why. I do know it can happen for no reason. Perhaps someone else will come on and advise.

Could be, I have two separate DSL lines plus the IPAD cell connection. My guess is that the site
owner has blocked my account, the blocking only happens when I am signed in. Thanks for the reply.

Create a new account and see what happens. You aren't banned as you would get a message saying you were. Sounds like an issue with your account.

Yes, I did create a new account. It worked fine, for about 15 minutes. You are right, I am not banned,
but the site owner will not cancel my existing account & will not allow more than one account at a time.

I, too, think it is a site specific problem, but the site owner swears his site is OK & the problem is in my computer.
As I know little to nothing about all of it I came here, thanks for your reply.

SQL error might indicate the record was inserted incorrectly or contained invalid data. Seems like a douchebag if he won't clear the previous account and is giving you a stupid excuse.

Tell him to manually pull the account data out of the database table and compare them with working accounts. I would also half expect your password to be stored in there as clear text, so likely change it if you've used it in other places.

"Douchebag"? Well, we have had our political differences, but it is his website & he has the big desk. He is adamant
about his site being clean, & says it is ridiculous for me to think otherwise. Good idea on the password, hadn't
thought about that. Thanks for the input.

These are quotes from either a lazy or disinterested person who doesn't want to help you. He can easily reset the account password and test the account functionality himself, assuming he actually knows what he's doing.

I've always found that the more 'adamant' the person is off the bat is the less they truly know.

Not sure how much he knows or if he is lazy. However, his last shot at me was "Just go somewhere else"
Not sure why he just doesn't ban me for good. Anyway, all my other Internet activity works just fine.
Not knowing much, I was concerned that maybe there was something wrong with my computer. Thanks again.

No worries, SQL errors in your browser really don't have anything to do with your PC. Since it works when you log out then that seems like the issue was isolated. Didn't really sound like malware otherwise it'd be more widespread. :p

Forgot to mention that in many reply attempts, I am re-directed to other websites, in addition to the SQL error message.
I always thought the problem originated in his website, but he denies having anything to do with it. As mentioned,
I have done numerous full system scans from three different sources with nothing found.

And you get redirected to these websites on the other devices as well? Try logging in from somewhere else like a library and see what happens. He should have knowledge of what IP's you are using. And if he sees its from a different location then he should know its an account issue not pc issue.

Yes, we have two separate DSL accounts, each with different ISP numbers (I think) Have also accessed his site from my IPAD on a cell connection, & get the same blocking & re-directs on each. I am about 99% convinced either the site owner or someone with access to his server is blocking & re-directing me. My only concern was that possibly there was something wrong with my computer (s).

It is the only site that is blocking me, but curiosity got the better of me.

You are fine, I'm sure. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a router problem. The owner/admin is just being a butthead.

How true, the interesting thing is that he just doesn't ban me. Maybe he just likes seeing me trying to post time after
time? Anyway, it is history. Interesting that a number of other members of the same political positions as mine
just suddenly disappeared from the forum, just a co-incidence, I am sure.
