Mostly what the title says.....

Please forgive my ignorance, but all help is greatly appreciated.

I am having the issue of when I power on my PC, sometimes both my monitors will go into sleep mode.
Then I will have to hard-shutdown (which I hate doing) and try again and it usually boots fine after that.
Also it will do this when I try to bring it out of sleep mode.

It doesn't do either every time, but it is severely annoying.

This first started after I upgraded my GPU from a MSI 970 4gb to a MSI 1070 8gb.
The 970 was DVI and now the 1070 is DP.
Monitors are: HP EliteDisplay E241i LED Backlit Monitor

Any ideas?
Is this a common issue and easy to correct?

Are you using the latest driver for the new card? Did you uninstall the old driver?

Then it would have to be something with the video card. Just curious what make and model of power supply you have?

Is there any credence in it being bad DP cables? Both are the same make and model of cables (HP 50.7C518.001 R)

I have a Corsair CX850M - Model : 75-011012
