Can't find a fitting cooler for my cpu/motherboard.

ImgW2.jpg

I bought a cpu cooler recently, and I can't install the damn thing because of this one tiny thing.

The bracket installed fine, but I couldn't hook the clamps into place because this thing won't let me.

Could you please recommend coolers that fit?

That's 1155 socket right? I think the Cryorig H7 would work there. The mount is different from what I'm used to, but it worked well on my last build.

Something from Akasa, I don't think I could find the link for the product.

I managed to find something that fits, it has the same way of installing as the intel stock cooler.

What a twist! My motherboard died last weekend. I am going to refund the cooler because I am switching to AMD. I wasn't planning to buy a new computer so soon but now I have to.

Short answer: I have no idea.

I was switching things around in the BIOS to install win10 on my shiny new SSD. After a reboot, it gave me a blank screen with a flashing LED light. No beeps, no post. Nothing. The guy at the computer shop says that the memory controller died. But honestly, it could have been any tiny little thing on the motherboard that suffered. I've tried troubleshooting the problem online, but alas I lack the experience.

But, it doesn't matter anyways. The little stinker has been giving me headaches for a long time.

So.... RMA it? It's practically brand new. My Asrock X370 Killer bricked itself in a similar way. Had a new replacement within 2 weeks that's flawless. My first board was pretty finicky and gave me various BSOD's. I think some of those earlier AM4 boards had some funky BIOS.

Yea if it's within warranty period, I'd RMA it. Unless you live in Europe than RMA service is a hit or a miss.

What's brand new? I'm talking about my old P8H61-MX. Sorry if I took down my old sig too fast.

But the motherboard is way past its warranty (3 years) and I've had this thing for 4 years.

I wouldn't trust that shop for anything, the IMC is part of the CPU on modern platforms.
Was gonna say, that sounds like a tech talking out of his ass.

In any case you've moved on from the platform it sounds like.

My memory is kind of unreliable about his exact words. But, I couldn't boot up the computer and neither could he. It was just a matter of time that I replaced the i3-2100.

I have a question about Ryzen and RAM speeds. From what I understand, Ryzen benefits from highly clocked RAM speeds. But at what point do I get diminishing returns? I could only afford 2400Mhz RAM. My MOBO and CPU supports it, and as far as I know I need a bios update so that it could handle 3200MHz too, but that I need a Ryzen 7 cpu. Is that true?

Basically, will I see a substantial performance difference in day to day use with my RAM? I am not a content creator.

thank you

You should shoot for probably 3200MHz or so IMO. Most boards will support those speeds with latest BIOS and there's definitely an uptick in smoothness in games with benchmarks to support that and price difference isn't huge going up to 3200MHz vs 2400MHz.

You don't need an R7 to get 3200MHz? Where'd you hear that?
