I'm looking at getting a 1440p monitor, however the prices range greatly from 210-600, possible more. I know about refresh rate, so I can see if one is only 60 hz verus 144hz I can see the increase. however, I dont see anything else that would cause such a great increase. Is there something that is more important to pay attention to when picking out a monitor?

IPS is what you want for best color reproduction and overall picture quality. Even my super low end (relatively) Acer 1440p display is IPS. Refresh rate is important too but pretty much anything under 4-5ms is fine unless you're doing super competitive gaming like CSGO. I grabbed my Acer (same on you linked) and it's pretty much the cheapest 1440p display out there. Looks miles better than my other 2 1080p displays. If you have the hardware to push 144Hz it's probably worth it but if you're looking to save money then 60Hz is still fine.

That Acer specifically is a great buy, particularly for the price. The built in speakers are crap and the stand isn't very adjustable but it stays upright and stable so good enough for me. Wish it had VESA capabilities but it was cheap so I don't mind.

i run an i5 3570 3.4 ghz with a gtz 1060 6gb (no oc). im not about anything over 60 fps, i dont get why I care. I can run bf1 on ultra easily at 60fps. witcher 3 on a combo of med-high, cod on ultra and so on. Is there a reason I would want a 400-600 dollar one? Is there some bonus that I cant see or am not reading?

With that hardware I'd just get a 60hz display. Just a matter of screen size and the stand/mount for it. Honestly that Acer is a good buy unless you need the Vesa capability.
