Confirm death of router?

This morning I wake up, do a couple things on the wifi, then it goes out. Okay, so I do all the usual 10 second resets, still nothing. I plug the modem directly into my laptop, works fine. Still no wifi on router and running a cable from router to laptop does not work.

Therefore my router bit the dust, correct? Damn TP-Link

If you can't get anything out of the wifi side after reverting to factory defaults then it's dead jim.

At least a decent opportunity to upgrade.

I probably should have put this in a different topic..
It's only 9 months old. I'm getting a replacement for now. It's TP-Links AC1750 dual band.
Anything more reliable in that same price range?
Thanks for the help.

Try to check all the connections and as what they said reset your router. If this won't work then it's time for you to buy a new one. How long have you been using this device?

UPDATE:
Before they issued a replacement they had me try one more thing and it worked.
1. Factory reset router
2. Power off router and modem.
3. Power on router first...then modem after.

So now my question is why does the order of restarting matter? And how would a malfunction like this happen in the first place? I was doing nothing out of the ordinary.

Restart order should have no impact. Did wired connectivity work through this entire process? That would tell you router vs modem if it was a specific wireless component. If wired + wireless doesn't work on the internet you should at least be able to hit the modem at http://192.168.100.1 assuming it's cable service.

Modem plugged directly into laptop worked fine.
Wired connection through router did not, as well as wifi.
I was able to get into router settings plugged in, yes.

With both wired and wireless not working it sounds more like a DHCP lease type of issue to the WAN side. The router and the modem have a separate splash page for management. Usually you can tell by the WAN IP that the router has in it's management page.

At least it's working now <3
