second hdd

hello people,

im thinking of buying a second hdd for my pc, since my 500gb disk is always full. but i have some questions.
i tried to find the fastest hdd available for my pc, and i ended up with a Samsung SpinPoint M8 HN-M500MBB, 500GB, the only result the website tweakers came up with.
now i need to know if 300mb/s reading and 140mb/s writing is fast, because speed is also something i care about a lot. i dont need another product that adds almost nothing to my pc, since i spent hundreds of euros already and my brothers cheap pc is still faster.
i use my pc a lot for gaming, and a big goal of mine is to reduce the ark: survival evolved loading time from 10 to 2-5 minutes.

second question. this question is not so important, but i need to know if it is possible to have your steam games installed on 2 different disks, because if i install all my steam games i want to play at the same time it takes up more than 500gb.

Those specs are off. That's a 5400 RPM 2.5" drive which will be slow as balls.

What capacity and budget are you targeting? WD Blue/Black or HGST drives provide good mechanical performance.

i will already be happy with a capacity of 500gb, since it doubles my capacity.
my budget is low and dont think i want to spend more than 100 euro.

As said, get a 1tb drive. You'll be spending just about the same for a 500gb drive as you do a 1tb.

You would be better off with sata 600 and yes it would fit since they would both be the same size. The difference is how fast system could write and retrieve data. Any system within the last 5 years or so should have the sata 6 specifications. What motherboard do you have?

They're ( from the Gigabyte site: 5 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors supporting up to 5 SATA 3Gb/s devices ). John. But shouldn't the sata 6gb be backwards compatible to 3gbs of the connectors.
Today's min. is a 1tb now 7200rpm's You can never have to much space.
As in the difference, think about it in laymen terms. Think about a 2 lane highway for the 300 and a 4 lane highway for 600.

An ga-ma785gmt-ud2h. Couldnt find on the internet if it supports sata 600
Sata 6 Gbps drives have no problems working on Sata 3 Gbps ports. This limits r/w transfers to the drive to around ~275 MB/sec. This is much farther above than the drive could actually read from the platter.
