GPU Suddenly Not Working

Hello,

This summer I built a PC. I know a fair amount about hardware, but having been a Mac user up until a few months ago, I don't know a ton about PCs. I was on the web a few days ago and was on a site that kept giving me ads/popups and seemed a little sketchy. I have a free anti-virus software but still left the site to be safe.

Now, out of nowhere, when I am using my computer, the monitor connected to my GPU will go black and stop working. I have one monitor connected to my GPU via HDMI and a second monitor connected to my motherboard via VGA with an HDMI adapter (monitor>VGA>adapter>motherboard). The monitor running my onboard graphics always works, even when the other one stops, leading me to believe that the problem lies in the GPU itself. I have never had any problems like this before, and I know that it could possibly be a variety of things (such as the fact that I had recently taken the HDMI out of my monitor and plugged it into my TV), but I can't help but think back to that sketchy site that I visited a few days prior.

I uninstalled and reinstalled all NVIDIA drivers and software, but that did not help. I also took the GPU out of the PCI slot and reinstalled it. After that failed, I even bought a new HDMI cord and tried it in both of my monitor's HDMI inputs, but nothing worked. I'm not sure if the card is bad or if there is a software issue causing these problems. What should I do?

Specs:
Motherboard: ASRock Z270 Killer SLI/ac
CPU: Intel Pentium G4560
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 2x4GB DDR4-2133
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050ti SC 4GB
Hard Drive: SanDisk Ultra II 1TB SSD
OS: Windows 10

Sorry for the uber-late response, I guess this thread was overlooked. I assume you have the solved the issue. If not, try moving the GPU to one of the other PCI slots.

Unfortunately I am still having the issue. I took my GPU out and it works fine running onboard, but not through the graphics card. I even got a new card from EVGA but am still having the same problem. It happens in both PCI slots.

Try flashing the BIOS.

By chance you don't have the onboard video set as check first on boot? Have you tried hooking up with just the video card, nothing hooked to the onboard.
