I'm a avid Flight Sim pilot. You want the fastest CPU for single threaded ability. FSX is largely CPU driven and it doesn't really use multiple threads at all. You can't crank a lot of the settings up either. I use the Comp. in my Sig for FSX locked to 25 FPS and it performs well except in NY where the frames go down to 14 or there abouts. You should get a 256 GB SSD and a 1 to 2 TB platter as spill over. Install games and things that need HDD speed on the SSD. Do not install FS into the programs folder. Install in C drive instead. Reason is due to protections and emulation in the programs folder and you may have trouble with addons otherwise.

Not sure if the i5 8400 has better single threaded ability over the i7 6700k. It may. Which means you have to use Win 10 and at Flightsim.com I've see a lot of crap with update madness causing havoc with the Sim. Although, not everyone has this trouble.

6700k has been superseded by Kaby and Coffee Lake. The new 8700k has a bit more IPC and 6 cores instead of 4. If you're determined to go Intel I'd probably just get that with a Z370 motherboard.

Personally I'd go i5 8600k (still 6 cores, just no HT) and throw the difference in cost into a better graphics card, unless you are 100% only going to be playing flight sims. Also, you probably want more than 450w if you're targeting higher end components.

I think the I7 is still the fastest cpu out there

i don't know which flightsim you are playing.
checked recommended spec with x plane 11. i7 6600k, 16 to 24 gb ram and gtx1070 or above.
to keep the price similar to your original list, i5 8400 is chosen as they are similar speed with i7 6600k.
this allow you to get more expensive gpu

Intel will be better for a flight sim. They have better single-threaded performance than AMD. Look at Kaby Lake or Coffee lake for a CPU.

Ok, Thanks. I am using FSX, but also some other games. I used to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 on my Dell Inspiron and, well, you can figure out what happened. I am mainly looking for speed with a good video card and a cheaper ssd.

What is your budget? I would get a Western Digital HDD platter. I don't particularly think Seagate is all that good. Every single Seagate drive I've had has failed. Although, I had a Western Digital blue and that failed on me too. I now use Hitachi. As to SSD, check out the Crucial MX300 or a Samsung. The video card is alright that you have listed. But it's over kill for FSX. It would work well for other games though. If you want a GTX 1060, I'd get the 6GB version.

Ok, Yeah I also play Minecraft and I need some good parts for the lag. My budget is 1500 though I could go over but not too much
