VR - compatible question

This may be a dumb question but do the processor and graphics card have to have that "VR ready!" listed on it to actually support VR? Or is this the company's way of saying that the part is good enough to support VR, and in this case is my processor good enough to support it? - AMD FX(tm) - 6300 Six-Core Processor

Thx!

The CPU is fairly irrelevant and doesn't need anything 'special'.

The gpu would just need to push an acceptable framerate for the resolution of the headset.

'VR ready' is more of a 'hey don't buy this geforce 1030 and expect an enjoyable experience in VR games' type of warning to guide you to higher tier gpus.

Well the 6300 came out before VR ever did so that's why you don't see that distinction.

Your 6300 will probably handle early VR games no problem but not sure about newer/more demanding ones. A friend with an 8320 did VR without much issue and it's basically the same with 2 extra cores which doesn't affect much.
