What bottom-end processor do you recommend for NVidia Ge force GTX 970?

I'm guessing you're looking for a bottom "end" processor to pair with your 970. Personally, I'd pair it with a Ryzen 5 1600 with a B350 motherboard, or, if Intel inclined, an I5 8400 with a Z350 - If you are asking for an opinion on bottoms, kinda trim and athletic - Not too round.

Just edited the title of the thread to reflect the comment above. Not the comment about bottoms though, haha!

It really depends on your budget. The GTX 970 is an older card now but still fairly capable. If you're looking for a new CPU then the Ryzen 5 or i5 suggestion above would be ideal (wouldn't really go much lower than either of these for a gaming setup). If money is an issue you could look for a used i5 3570K, 4670K or 4690K setup which would work well, the latter of which was current when the GTX 970 was a new card. You could also see if you could find an i7 setup from this time period (3770K, 4770K or 4790K) or even an AMD FX-8320 or FX-8350 if you found one at a good price (would choose an i5 or i7 over the AMD FXes though!)

As someone who currently owns a GTX 970, I would say the Intel i3-8100 would best match the 970.

The i3-8100 often goes on sale for $100, and is on par with the Ryzen 5 1600, and even often outperforms it.

With the 2600 being out, I personally think the 1600 is overpriced.

A budget would really help - several good options out there.

True, but I wouldn't consider a $180 i5-8400 a bottom-end processor. And the 2600 is far superior to the 1600 for the same price, $160, neither of which are priced bottom-end.

The i3-8100 is four cores, sub-$120, and won't bottleneck a 970 at 60Hz in any current title. I'd say an 8350 certainly would, even after overclocking. The 8100 even pushes a GTX 1080ti quite nicely.
