What is going on with my new computer?

Lenovo Ideapad 330.

It is going crazy. Brand new computer. It runs slow as hell even running 2 Firefox tabs and Excel. I go to Task Manager and it tells me that there's 6 Firefox processes running when there's only 2 tabs open.

Disk is at 100%. Memory is at 97%. The vast majority of this is Firefox going crazy.

You bought a cheap piece of crap and expected to run fast?

Firefox and Chrome both generate a lot of processes in Task Manager even if you have 1 tab open. Each process handles fairly specific tasks. Hell, even Microsoft Edge does this although they do a much better job at labeling what each process does.

Well then I'll just upgrade the memory and hard drive. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Was it possible that your anti-virus software was running a scan at the time or that Windows was updating at that time? Maybe there's something else running a background process. Throwing more RAM and and an SSD at it won't necessarily speed things up.

You could have spent less and done this with your old computer, which would have been more responsive than your current $350 purchase.

More likely a problem with Firefox?
Runs fine for me, must be your poor purchasing decision. A good baseline for buying a new system, if it runs like crap out of the box just take it back.

Your best bet would be to get the Windows 10 ISO make a USB drive to boot from and re-install windows 10 thus getting rid of all of the Lenovo crap that's on that computer. Then use a program, such as Ccleaner or something similar, to get rid of most of the Microsoft crap then you will have a reasonable computer to write letters on.
