Lazor verses Ink

I'm a 78 year old that has had ink type printers for the last 20 years, and never had anything to do with Lazor printers. Haveing said that I am toying with the idea of going Lazor. Can somebody give me some info on the advantages of both so I can make a decision. I am looking at a BROTHER Lazor printer at the moment, at around $120 to $150 Aust. I am completely interested and really curious about the cost of Ink and Lazor cartridges and the lasting time of each.
Thanks in advance.

I was the same there. Went with a laser Brother color printer. Cheaper to buy but a bit more for the cartridge. Had mine about 2-1/2 yrs and have not bought or replaced a cartridge yet. love it. its a HL-3170CDW printer. Had bought a extra black cartridge and have not used yet. Love it.

I will never go back to an inkjet printer. Too much hassle and ink cartridges are expensive for them anymore. I've been using a laser printer for years now. Yeah the toner costs more but last much longer providing you aren't a business that prints many pages per day. I have this one and love it. https://www.brother-usa.com/products/mfcl2740dw I can get the high yield black cartridge 1200 pages toner for usually about $49. Only problem is that my girlfriend works at a daycare and prints stuff off for the kids and has to be replaced about every 6 months. If it wasn't for that, it would last over a year. Inkjet cartridges dry out over time if you don't print, to where laser toner won't. The drum on the laser printer usually lasts up to about 70,000 pages. Those are more expensive then the toner but laser is still much more worth it.

Edit Which printer are you thinking of getting?

If the Why, Why, Why, is directed at me, it is because I have never used a Lazor printer up till now. Fairly simple really.

f the Why, Why, Why, is directed at me,
Huh?

I explained all the benefits about using a laser printer over an inkjet. Inkjet cartridges dry out over time if you don't print enough. If you hardly ever print in color then get a laser, cheaper in long run then an inkjet. If you need to print color then a color laser will work but the toner is expensive but still cheaper in the long run. You only replace what color is out instead of the whole combo cartridge as some inkjets still use the combo instead of individual cartridges. Not sure what more info you are looking for. You still haven't said what exact brother printer you are interested in. I can give you a little more information once you give us the model number.

As far as my Brother printer goes the standard yield black cartridge will print roughly 1200 pages for $38.99 USD while the high yield cartridge will print roughly 2600 pages for $49.98.

Now the toner for Tremmors color laser printer is $57 each for 1400 pages for the red, blue and yellow while the black is around $70 for 2500 pages.

For what it's worth. My Canon printer is inkjet and I just pulled it from storage after 2 years and it printed out totally fine first try without needing any cleaning, and even with off brand cartridges. Newer inkjets are a lot better about it, particularly if you buy an actually decent printer not the cheapest HP you can find at Wally World.

Toner is superior but if you don't print super often I still say a decent quality InkJet is more practical and cheaper than going full hog with a toner machine.

the pages you print from a laser are "waterproof" in such a way that if you spill water/liquid on it by accident, it won't smudge the print. Can't say the same about the inkjet.

As said by other members here, the dollar per page is lower with a laser printer than inkjet.

The advantage of inkjet though, if you spend enough money on one, is the higher print resolution achievable.

OK, I reckon it is time for a change of direction, I'll come back in about a year if my body hasn't gone past the finish line and report on my Lazor printer.Ta,Ta.
