Is there any way I can reset this printer to its factory settings, including removing any firmware updates that have been added?

The problem I have is that the SD card reader and the USB connector no longer work; when trying to access them via Windows Explorer, I get the error message given below:-

\\Epson26b5c5\memorycard refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

I have tried re-mapping the network drive, but this does not have any effect, I still get the same message. I am wondering whether a firmware update that was installed a few months ago had any effect on this facility. I have tried removing the printer from the PC, even tried using it as a stand-alone printer not connected to the PC, but the slots still refuse to work.

Having been in touch with Epson, they said it probably needed servicing, as it seemed like an electrical fault, but the cost, approx £120 was more than I paid for the printer new.

Do you get different behavior when referencing it via IP?

What behavior do you get when utilizing USB? Wifi is generally the better way to go.

I have the ET-2750 if you needed any Epson specific feature help.

I connect via WiFi normally, and use Epson Connect to print from the iPad, etc. I cannot see how it is anything to do with the connection method, as the ports do not work when the printer is disconnected from the PC. You should be able to use this printer as a stand-alone printer (in fact, my cousin uses one this way) so the type of connection method is irrelevant. Is there any way to remove the firmware update?

RMA? What is this? And I do not know what you mean by "when referencing it via IP".

What I maybe should have said was that the ports do not work whether connected or not to the PC.

The printer itself works well, so I do not intend to buy a new one until it gives up the ghost. I asked my original question in the faint hope that one of the experts on this forum could help me identify what the problem with the SD Card Reader and USB Reader was.

It seems that I will just have to carry on using my portable USB card reader, as there appears to be no answer, other than to have the printer serviced, which is not economically viable.

Thanks to all the forum members who replied.

If it's an electrical problem and something like a card reader you might be able to fix it yourself. That's really the only option if you're not able to RMA, pay for repairs, or buy something new. What you will end up needing to do is just take it apart find out what the part is and how it's attached. See if you can find the card reader portion of the printer on Ebay or similar sites. Learn to soldier if required (if it's not using a label style connector and old school soldered to the board). Then take a run at it.

There really isn't much else to suggest if it's hardware related.
