hah, but i still somehow support INTEL, for its brand

what? what does that have to do with this thread?

is there a 4 GHz CPU out yet?

my guess would be that intel will be the first one to reach 4 GHz since they typically have higher clocks than amd.

Yeah, but after the big "Intels run too hot" thing, they said they would be lowering clock speeds in order to try and produce cooler running CPUs, so who knows now.

I think the fastest intel processor out right now is 3.8ghz. So i really dont see how they can't hit 4.0ghz. However, i dont see why they want to because cpu's are heading towards dual core instead of higher net clock speed.

Like the new Pentium M's, they have a much lower clock speed but are better than the higher clock speed P4's.

And to answer your question, they dont have 4Ghz Stock CPU's, but people have overclocked way past 4Ghz. But i dont think thats what you meant, lol

my god, 7Ghz, are you sure, i know the world record last year, 2004, was 5.2ghz, that was actually recorded and a full stable system, i think they were lying with 7Ghz, thats just stupid.

It's no lie.

Done with a Prescott 670 3.8Ghz on Windows Server 2003.

7132.82 MHz (375,4 MHz FSB x 19)

The processor in question is a Pentium 4 670 Prescott, whose speed was designed by Intel at 3.8 GHz. The system used by the Japanese to push things to the limit is built around an ASUS P5WD2 motherboard with two 512 MB RAM CORSAIR PC2-5400UL modules of memory, and the cooling system was ARC Pot Revc.12.1xe LN2; the operating system installed on the system was Windows Server 2003.

It may very well be broken by now though.
