Imagine calling AMD an inferior brand and gross in 2019 :D

As for OP: I would try and save up more money for a platform upgrade, since the only options available would be very bad value/$, unless you are willing to find and buy a used i7-4770k. But even if you could find it at $100, I'd still say that's bad value, however objectively a bit better performance.
The problem with Intel these days is that they are very expensive if you want high frequencies, which is good for gaming, and low frequencies for the "budget" chips - however still too pricy to warrant an upgrade.

Ryzen chips at $100 would blow that 4770k out of the water.

Are you sure about that, my older 3770k has the same IPC as beers 300 dollar 2700x, so I'm sure it would beat an overclocked 100 dollar Ryzen e.g. 2200g, 1200 in pretty much any game, still I would not want to pay 200 for an old cpu.

My advice is to save up and buy whatever is best bang for the buck, as of right now that would most likely be an AMD build.

We know the facts, how much they cost and how they perform, so I do not understand AMD/INTEL arguments.

Clock for clock even? Not to mention die shrink, IPC improvements, and more cores/threads. I guess we'll see.

According to GamersNexus, performance wise, the 4790K stock is sitting around where the i5-8400 is. The 2700X typically trails or sits even with both, but in Assassin's Creed the 4790K falls behind the stock 2600.

The 2600K is starting to fall behind the pack, but overclocked it can compete with the Ryzen 5 2600X, but it depends on the game.

The 4770K would likely trade blows with the 2600X/ 2700X.

Ok, I think this has gone on long enough. Besides, OP hasn't returned in almost 3 weeks. If more discussion is warranted about different cpu's then create a new thread.

This thread is now closed.
