Resident Evil 2 (remake) comes out tomorrow the 25th and I can't wait. I've already got mine reserved through AMD Rewards. According to reviews, this game is supposed to be one horrifying and wild ride. It will probably be one of those games that I won't be playing when I'm alone at night.

I spent some time playing and here is my experience so far.

During the opening scene at the gas station you are encouraged to look around your surroundings before following the blood trail through the door into the convenience store. The first thing I noticed was that you can not pick up just anything you want, even though there are items such as a broom propped next to the fence. Also the game will not allow you to search the cop car parked outside, which I found to be odd considering you might need things the police left behind. The only option is too enter the door into the store. At that point I wanted to know which keys did what functions on the keyboard. So I paused the game and went into Options to look around. I quickly found out that there is only a setup for a game console controller. Sure you can use a mouse and keyboard, but the actions listed for the controller weren't listed for the keyboard. That was disappointing. Every FPS shooter game I bought for the PC had settings for the keyboard. I continued into the store fumbling with buttons and keys to find out which ones did what. Figuring out how to use the gun was easy enough, but how to defend yourself after the bullets ran out got me killed, twice. I can't seem to find an action button or key that lets me punch or kick my way through zombies. Maybe later. One last thing I found out during my first encounter with the dead, is that one head shot will not kill a zombie. Multiple head shots are required. I've never played any Resident Evil games before, so this was new to me. I did discover that leg shots are more effective at temporarily neutralizing a walking corpse than wasting time aiming for the cranium.

More to come...

The graphics are really, really good and horrifying. The in-game atmosphere will definitely keep you on edge. I highly recommend this game!

I played this a bit last night and am enjoying it. For some reason when I turn hdr on in Windows then on in game it seems overly dark. Off in Windows and on in game it looks great. Is that toggle in Windows setting even needed when a game has the toggle?
