Ryzen or intel

So I'm really torn between ryzen or Intel atm, for the sake of I'm not rich and really only wanna spend max 3-5 grand on an build that I can upgrade and so forth, looking to spend 2 though. But with ryzen gen 3 on the way and the smashing result or a r 5 beating a i9 9900k by 3 seconds is why I'm torn. Because I've heard that ryzen is ether a god sent or more disappointment, and the fact is a 400 dollar difference. But what I'm wondering is that 400 dollars an insurance that that CPU isn't gonna crap out on me. But the pc world is always changing. And there never really seems to be a happy medium. You stuff is ether amazing or trash. So it's really hard to even wanna spend a grand on it. So idk maybe some tech wizards could help me settle it. I want the pc to be a cross between super powerful 2k-4k gaming computer, but as well one that is amazing for working on as well. I already know that it is going to be custom water loop for extra cooling and modifications. Sorry for the novel but hope to hear back soon.

Ryzen wasn't super stable when it first dropped. As an early adopter I can attest to that. That said, it's matured greatly in 2 years and I'm excited to see what the third gen will hold and if it will finally be able to edge out Intel on the gaming side.

I'm an AMD guy but I've seen many Intel users switch and been nothing but happy. If you do anything more than strictly gaming the Ryzen platform will perform better. For 100 percent gaming the Intel will likely perform slightly better, although 3rd gen may change that.

Thank you both for your inputs yeah I'm guessing I'll wait to start my build for gen 3, I been leaning towards Ryzen since October of 2018 but never had that true nudge, because of all the intel fan boys saying no intel is like your insurance the extra money is so your system doesnt shit the bed on you

Where I can just upgrade to a r7 or r9 when there released, new mobo and a new vega vii which from that I saw isn't as great as an rtx 2080ti but gave a 2080 a good run for its money

Beating it by 3 seconds in what?

$400 difference between which processors? CPUs don't just crap out on you unless you do some really stupid things with it. Applies to both AMD and Intel.
I already know that it is going to be custom water loop for extra cooling and modifications.
This greatly contradicts the picture you posted on Post #6... unless you actually plan to do a custom loop on a Ryzen 3 2200G. If that's the case, I'm out.

What? Who said that. I want to see for entertainment purposes.

Vega VII is not something I'd consider until more stable drivers are out as the one available for hardware reviewers was pretty dismal.

The build In the picture is one just to get me by until the new gen 3 ryzen come out, it's cheap parts that I can give to my buddy or my brother so he can play minecraft or some games with me, I dont plan on wanting to spend more until the new shits been out for about a month or 2 do my research wait for the boards to come out, and all that jazz.
If I can find a link for what the new processor been the i9 I'll post it.
And by the intel fanboys being my tech geek buddy that him and I have been best friends since grade 4, with more money then god to spend on multiple pcs. And others being those that work at my local computer shops, maybe just wanting to make a bit more on commission. But a computer like a car, I want the best possible bang for buck. I wanna ask questions to make sure that it's not gonna die in the next 5 10 years.

Intel has been winning the CPU game for basically a decade up until Ryzen actually was competitive 2 years ago. So the mindshare is pretty strong still even if their products are no longer the de facto best choice. Don't get me wrong they still edge out gaming performance and aren't bad products, but they're not the default anymore.

Personally I'm leaning towards Ryzen at this point in the game. AMD seems to be taking advantage of Intel's failure to produce 10nm CPU's recently. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, but I'd definitely wouldn't mind switching back to team red.

I'm just trying to not look at the 3rd gen too much. Those numbers are nuts but I hardly stress my 1700 so it would be a flat waste to upgrade.

Planning on it, though I'm thinking about making a steam punk case and doing all copper metals in the water blocks so I can use some copper tubing and in the custom loop, I just dont know how well the the aluminum in the radiators hold up on that, but looking at vehicles they have pretty similar designs aluminum in steel, iron. I guess I'll just do my research though I'm assuming it would be fine because of aio coolers and Custom water blocks being copper or nickel, and there doesnt seem to be a negative reaction

That's a good point. I haven't done any serious clean up on my PC.. Probably needs some new thermal paste (using the pre-applied stuff on my H80i GT).. and some Be Quiet! case fans would be nice.
