Part of the work I am doing for my new laptop is transfering files to my new laptop from old.
I emailed an exe file, a cricket software program and uploaded to the downloads file.
I then attempted to run it but got the message "An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information contact the administrator."
My question is its my own new laptop so surely I am the administrator ? How can I get to use this so I can discard my old laptop and move on please ?
But can you not use the Windows 10s built in "
SHARED FOLDERS"
"Did you know that every Windows computer is equipped with “Shared folders”? Whatever you copy or save to these folders might be acessable from every other computer in your
local network. So you don´t have to use google drive, USB-sticks, e-mail or other stuff like that to share files with others at home.. This section show you how to share your shared folders!
Open the file explorer, click on the “Quick acess”-text on top, so the text is marked, or erase the text inorder to replace it,
type:
%Public% and hit enter. This is your computers “Public Folders” that other users/computers MAY access to fetch files etc.
In the left pane you will see the folder: “
PUBLIC”, RIGHTclick on that, choose: Properties, and SHARING,
then select: ADVANCED SHARING, select YES,
Tick the “Share this folder”, In “Share name:” type ´Computername Public´ or whatever may identify your share to others.
Click: OK, Notice the “NETWORK PATH” this is the adress others use to access your shared files..
Note the “Password protection” bellow, If you like to give access to others on your private network without having to create accounts and passwords for everyone, click: Network and sharing center, expand the ALL NETWORKS profile,
Click on the: “Password-protected sharing”, select: “Turn OFF password-protected sharing”, then select: Save changes
select YES,
Anyone on your
local network now has READ ACCESS to your shared folders. And even other people who logs on to your computer."
