Solved Win 7 Rescue disc to flash drive?

Greetings all,

It's been a while...

PROBLEM:
My brother out -of-state has 32bt Win7 on his Dell computer.... My other brother visiting him decided to defrag the computer and now is getting the "BLACK screen of death". He has not tried to get into "safe" mode (F8, etc etc, etc) but, will try it early afternoon (eastern time). He has no OS disc available.

QUESTION:
I have a Win7 OS disc available....Is there a simple way to copy a (for lack of a better phrase) restore/rescue or "boot fix" or something from the OS disc to a flash drive to access/boot to a restore point from the Win7 disc to a flash drive? This way I can send him the drive to boot into. Any other ideas?........Thanks!

Thanks for the reply...I should have specified that there is NO recovery/restore partition..It is a single partition with "7" on it.

What is the bluescreen code on the screen? That would at least tell us what the problem could be. It may be the hard drive has errors on it, especially after defragmenting. Did it say anything about unmountable boot volume? If so, there are errors on the drive. It's possible running the hard drive manufacturer's disk diagnostic utility may correct the problem. If not, he'll need a new drive and a way to reinstall windows.

Greetings, and thanks for the reply.

Sometimes I hate dealing with family as in this case since they gave me a critical piece of incorrect info!

What is happening is it is a black screen with some info that is being displayed that he is getting and no matter what happens, hitting any selection, still comes back to that same screen or two (see picts although a bit blurry)....Sorry 'bout that!"

That means its a boot manager issue.

Need to use a different pc to download a bootable program to fix this though.

It may be easier for him to take it somewhere and have them fix it though.
yeah, I now know as I watched a video on it.....I did send him numerous discs this morning that may have included the linked disc.....(not sure if I have it or sent it).... I gave him a laptop last year and assuming he hasn't "f'ed" that up too, He may be able to do this himself w/out me holding his had as always.
